About Fundraising
Our goals are to provide, not only the best education, but to also create a fun and memorable year. A supportive effort between students, parents, faculty, and staff is so vital. As a team, we can be successful in reaching these goals.
 
Fundraising is a necessary part for the PTO. The funds from selling items are used to pay for field trips, assemblies, fun fair, other items and activities for each child. Without these fundraisers, the PTO would not be able to supply these activities for your child to enjoy.

If you are unable to fundraise, we do accept donations. It costs approximately $50 per child to supply all of the activities for the year. If the budgeted amount is not reached, there is a possibility that we may have to eliminate activities, or request that each child pay a certain amount towards these activities, especially field trips. We hope it does not come to this, and with your help we can avoid this situation.
 
The PTO conducts only TWO fundraisers each school year: The Fall Fair - held on a Saturday late afternoon in October. This includes a chili dinner, carnival games & prizes, auction, raffles, cakewalk, and FUN!

Spring Sale - this varies from year to year. Typically, it is a brochure sale of frozen food or specialty items.  We are currently trying the Direct Donation Campaign instead of a Spring Sale.  The Direct Donation Campaign is an appeal used to meet the Southwestern Elementary PTO operating budget in place of having a Spring Catalog Sale. Furthermore, unlike traditional fundraisers, the school nets 100% of the money raised by this campaign, so all of the money goes right back to the children. 

There are other fundraisers that are sent home through-out the school year, but they are not from the PTO.  Some of those are listed above and help provide our students with equipment and funds for their educaton. We intentionally keep our fundraising to a minimum to avoid fundraiser burn-out. We hope you will actively participate in the two that we do!
