Parties There will be 2 class parties during the 2007-2008 school year:
December 19, 2008 - Winter Party
May 27, 2009 – End of School Party
Both parties begin at 2:00 p.m.
Room Parents are responsible for coordinating parent volunteers and organizing the parties. This includes choosing age appropriate crafts, activities or games for the party. In keeping with the focus on healthy eating, we should attempt to not overload the children with sweets and goodies and focus more on activities. Here are some websites that have great ideas for healthy snacks, kid games, and activities:
ISTEP Snacks
Our students will be taking the ISTEP beginning on September 17 through September 28. Healthy snacks and bottled water will help keep them fresh during the testing. During ISTEP, parents who are able may bring in healthy snacks and bottles of water for students to munch on during the testing. Please have parents bring in snacks to the office. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Swift at roomparent@southwesternpto.org
Parent/Teacher Conference Dinner
During Parent/Teacher Conference’s PTO parents bring in dinner for the teachers. We are asking Room Parents to help organize the volunteer efforts of that dinner. Please coordinate with the Room Representative Committee by emailing roomparent@southwesternpto.org
Kindergarten/1st Grade - Desserts
2nd Grade/3rd Grade - Entrees
4th Grade/5th Grade - Appetizers
6th Grade - Paper Products and Drinks
On October 21, 2008, dinner items need to be at school by 4:00 p.m.
Birthdays
One idea for teachers and aides is to take a class photo, have students sign the themed paper and adhere the picture to it. Another idea is to have someone bring a large inexpensive vase and ask each child to bring some kind of long-stemmed flower, either “store-bought” or from home. This makes a lovely gift. Usually someone sends cupcakes and napkins. For summer birthdays, you can select just any date. Use your imagination! For more ideas go to Teacher Gift Ideas
Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week of May. This school year that falls on the week of May 4-8, 2009. Room parents will be asked to work in coordination with the Teacher Appreciation Committee during this week.
